Schedule Of Diving

The diving competitions for London Olympics 2012 will be held at the astounding new Aquatics Centre in Olympic Park, designed by architect Zaha Hadid. Diving events are scheduled from Sunday 29 July to Saturday 11 August 2012. 136 athletes (68 men, 68 women) will participate in 8 medal events in London Olympics 2012. Diving entered the Olympic games in 1904, whereas Synchronised Diving began at Sydney Olympics 2000. Divers compete individually and in pairs (also known as synchronised diving). Individual events have a preliminary round, semi-final and final, while the synchro competitions are straight finals. There are many amazing styles of diving such as front, back, reverse, inward, twist and armstand. China is leading the sport lately and won 7 out of 8 gold medals in Beijing Olympics 2008! Judges give their scores considering the starting positions, take-offs, the techniques applied, degree of difficulty, the grace and entry into water (with as little splash as possible).

Diving Events at London Olympics 2012
There will be 8 diving events, four for men and four for women

The 3 m springboards must be at least 4.8 m in length and 50 cm in width and the 10 m platforms should be at least 6 m in length and 3 m in width.
