Schedule Of Handball Events

The team handball game was formed by the end of the 19th century in northern Europe, mainly in the countries like Germany, Norway Denmark, and Sweden. Danish gym teacher, lieutenant and Olympic medalist Holger Nielsen from Ordrup grammar school north of Copenhagen was the first to publish the written set of team handball rules in 1906. However the modern set of rules was published by Karl Schelenz, Max Heiser, and Erich Konigh from Germany on the 29 October 1917. The first international game was played in 1925 between Germany and Belgium for men. For women the first international game was between Germany and Austria in 1930. Therefore modern handball is in fact a game of German origins. Team handball was introduced as an Olympic sport for men at the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin, but was dropped after that, and was re-introduced at the 1972 Summer Olympics, again on German territory. Women's team handball competition was introduced at the 1976 Summer Olympics at Montreal.
