Eton Manor, located on the northern end of the Olympic Park, will host the Wheelchair Tennis during the London 2012 Games. This venue, which derives its name from the famous Eton College, covers 27 acres and falls on the northern part of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. This sports and leisure venue, situated in Leyton, London Borough of Waltham Forest, will provide the best facilities for Olympics and Paralympics athletes during the Games. Numerous pools have been set up for the athletes participating in the aquatics events as well as several temporary courts have been set up for the wheelchair tennis competition and warm-up rounds. This sprawling 5,000 capacity sporting venue is expected to receive about 10,500 spectators during the Summer Olympics event. But that is not all. Eton Monor is one of London's most historically potent venues and serves as a memoir for those who were involved in the First and the Second World War. The community sporting facility was formed in the 1900s after which Eton Manor Boy's Club was reputed as the elite sporting association.

Eton Manor London Olympics 2012
Eton Manor has always been deemed as one of the best sporting venues in London, with excellent track record and world-class facilities. A venue for the Paralympics tennis events, Eton Manor will stage the wheelchair tennis competition for the Summer Olympics 2012. Nine competition tennis courts along with four warm-up courts have been set up to ensure foremost facilities to the participating nations. A temporary seating arrangement of 10,500 seats has also been set up to accommodate the spectators for Wheelchair Tennis and 2,000 seats for Paralympic Archery. The seats will be dismantled after the Games. The venue will stage 112 athletes competing for six medals. This venue was built on the old Eton Manor Sports Clubby four former Olympians. After the London 1948 Olympics, the running track was transferred here. The construction works for the venue is almost complete. Also, in addition to being a venue for Paralympic Archery, Eton Manor will also serve as a training centre during the Games. This venue will form the base for 4200 athletes from all over 140 nations who will gather here for a great experience with Paralympic Games.

During The Games
During Olympics, Eton Manor will host the Wheelchair Tennis competition and the venue will provide practice facilities for various swimming disciplines. Also temporary training facilities will be given to the participants in the Aquatics events. This ranges from providing three 50m pools, synchronized small pools and also water polo pools. Nine competition courts and four warm-up courts have been set for the Paralympics tennis competition that is believed to be the cynosure event in this sporting venue.

After The Game
After Olympics, the venue will be utilized both as a sporting and community centre. There are also intentions to transform Eton Manor and provide sporting facilities for both the regional and local communities which will include tennis centre. This will consist of four indoor and six outdoor courts and also hockey centre comprising two competition pitches along with five-a-side football pitch. Hence after these facilities get incorporated, this venue will be able to accommodate 15,000 spectators for the hockey events. Thus, these facilities are run, owned and funded by Lee Valley Regional Park Authority.

This venue is located between A106 Ruckholt Road, A12/Temple Mills Road and the Temple Mills Lane. As Eton Manor is situated in the Olympic Park, it is easily accessible through the Stratford tube station.

  • With London Olympics, the Games will be back to the country, which gave birth to the Paralympic movement in the year 1948. It was then that Dr. Ludwig Guttman conducted a wheelchair archery competition among the sixteen soldiers of the Second World War who had spinal cord injuries at Stoke Mandeville Guttman.
