Hyde Park

Hyde Park, which is accredited as one of London's largest royal parks, is known for its speaker's corner. The park was open to public audience since 1637. Home to grassroots sports club and Serpentine Swimming Club, where members swim irrespective of the weather, Hyde Park is one the of three festive sites which provides you a chance to view the historic Olympic celebrations and experience the sporting atmosphere related to the London Olympics 2012. After hosting events such as Triathlon, Marathon Swimming, Hyde Park is all set to host the grand Olympic festival. The grandstand view of the finishing area will gather thousands who can watch the athletes swim, cycle and run on the course. The giant outdoor screens constructed inside the stadium will enable the crowds to cheer for the athletes who fight for glory, even if they are denied tickets to watch the games. During the summers of 2012, this beautiful green landscape will host the most wonderful festival in the world history.

Hyde Park, one of the venues for London Olympics, is located on the West End of London, within a mere walking distance from all famous accommodation facilities and shops. Commuting to this location on foot or by bus is very easy with the location being very close to six underground stations in London. The grand stand area for both events, Triathlon and Marathon Swimming, is located on the northern side of The Serpentine Lake within the Hyde Park. You will also get the chance to view these events from areas where ticket is not required. Once you reach the venue, there will be signs boards which shows the way or direction to guide you to the main venue. The park has temporary grandstand, which has a capacity of about 3,000 people. On the lake, a pontoon has been constructed where the athletes can swim up to 1500 lap. The organizers have constructed temporary seats for spectators where the course has been marked. The Serpentine Lake in the stadium will be used for the swimming leg of the Triathlon.

During The Game
Hyde Park plays the host to the Marathon Swimming and Triathlon events at London 2012. The park will also be the home on-site special events and live performances which include music, theatre and cultural events which take place during the Olympics. Hyde Park will also host the Olympics closing ceremony, which is also going to hit the headlines with iconic performances by Brit pop band Blur, who are the winners of the Outstanding Contribution Award at Brit Awards. The public will not be charged any fee for the live performances which includes concerts that coincide with the opening and closing ceremonies of Olympics on 27th July and 12th August. In addition to that, Hyde Park will also host a Festival Live Site to give the coverage of London Olympics.

After The Game
After the London Olympics is over, the grandstand and course in Hyde Park will be removed.
