Cycling Road

Along with Track Cycling, Road Cycling is the oldest cycling sport to feature in the Olympics. It made its debut in the 1896 Athens Games however it was not included next three Olympics in 1900, 1904 and 1908. And again, following its re-inclusion in the 1912 Stockholm Games, Road Cycling has been a regular feature since then. Over such a long history of the sport in the Olympics, it's Italy that holds most gold medals (6), in all the events combined. In the upcoming 2012 London Games, 212 athletes, 145 men and 67 women will compete for gold in four different events. The competition will be held at The Mall, Box Hill, and Hampton Court Palace on 28th and 29th July and on 1st August.
