This was the New Zealand's twenty-fourth appearance at the Summer Olympics. A total of 184 New Zealand athletes, (97 men, and 87 women) competed in 16 sports at London Olympics. It was the nation's largest ever delegation to Olympics. Its athletes won a total of thirteen medals (six gold, two silver, and five bronze), finishing fifteenth in the overall medal standings.
