It would be the greatest miss of a lifetime if you miss the shooting competition to be held at the Royal Artillery Barracks in London. Being one of the most popular sports for centuries, it evokes feelings of tension as well as excitement. In London Olympic Games, more than 400 participants will be competing for gold in almost 15 events. Olympic shooting events are broadly classified into three types including pistol, rifle and shotgun. Making its debut in the first modern games in 1896, shooting has featured on every Olympic game except in 1904 and in 1928. In 1984, women's shooting events also became part of the Olympics. The shooting events have always been the spectators of heroics, as in any other sports. Hungarian shooter Karoly Takacs engraved a place for him in history when his right hand injured by a grenade. After practising to shoot by left hand, he won golds in 1948 and 1952. Between 1896 and 2004, British athletes took home 43 medals in shooting and the year of 1992 saw China's Zhang Shan becoming the first woman in the history to become a gold winner in mixed gender shooting event.
