Triathlon Venue
Triathlon Venue, located at Ming Tomb Reservoir in Changping District of northern Beijing, is a temporary facility constructed for hosting the sports of Triathlon in Beijing Olympics 2008. Triathlon competitors coming to the venue will have a picturesque natural setting to do their 1.5km swim, 40km bike race and 10km run. The International Triathlon Union has described the venue as the most environmentally friendly triathlon venue in the world.

The Event
Swimming event will be the first part of the race. It will take place right in the Ming Tomb Reservoir. After the swim, competitors will mount their bikes and ride along the bank of the Dongsha River, a scenic route that will take six laps to finish. The final round will be a 10km run, to be completed in four laps. Instead of running on the road, a rubber running track made from used tires will be used in the competition.

Resource-friendly Venue
The resources used in making the venue would be reused elsewhere after the Olympics. The rubber running track which has the long life of more than ten years, will be refitted for use in Changping District's elementary, middle, and high schools. The students in these schools will learn the basics of the sports on the rubber track then. For energy needs, an LED solar energy lamp is being used. As for the steel, which is used for the dam platform, it ill be resold to construction companies for re-use. Thus none of the products will be lying useless once the games are over. As for the buildings, the existing buildings were reused after refurbishing for the athletes, officials and local organizers. When the games are over, the buildings will resume their usual work.

Facilities Provided
Spectator stands with seating capacity for 10,000 spectators have bee made. Big screens have been set up so the fans could get close-ups of all the events. Media seating, VIP lounge, rooms for press conferences, logistics and security arrangements have been provided.
