Beach Volleyball

Beach Volleyball may have started out as a pastime sport in California, US, but is now among the fastest growing (in popularity) Olympics sports. Though it took some time for Beach Volleyball to be included in this spectacle event (as it was in the 1920s that the game first appeared), it is now making amends by being one of the most popular games in the Olympics. And out of the 8 gold medals awarded in the sport, USA has won 5, men and women competition included. In the London Olympics 2012, the Beach Volleyball competition will be held at the Horse Guards Parade from 28th July to 9th August. A total number of 96 athletes, 48 men and 48 women, 24 teams, from all over the world, will be competing for the gold medal. USA, like before, will once again look to hunt for the gold. Here is list of the Olympic medals won in the men's and women's Beach Volleyball competitions since the inception of the game.
