Triathlon

Though invented in the 1970s, Triathlon made its Olympics debut at the 2000 Sydney Games and the best part about it is that in the six events that have been organized in 3 Olympic Games have been won by six different countries: Canada & Switzerland in in 2000, New Zealand & Austria in 2004, and Germany & Australia in 2008. Simon Whitfield and Brigitte McMahon from Canada and Switzerland respectively were the first to win gold medals for their countries. In the upcoming 2012 London Olympics, 110 athletes, 55 men and 55 women, will participate in the competition that will be held at Hyde Park from 4th to 7th August.
