Beach Volleyball Men and Beach Volleyball Women will be played at the Horse Guards Parade.
Number Of Athletes
In the London Olympics 2012, beach volleyball competitions will be held for both men and women consisting of 24 teams. The matches will be divided into six pools with four teams each and the preliminaries will be conducted. In a total, 108 matches will be played with 54 matches of women and women. The spectators can enjoy 13 days of competition on the Horse Guards Parade.
Team Size
For beach volleyball, the team consists of two players. Hence, there will be 24 male and 24 female team competitions at the London Olympics 2012. The first 16 teams will be qualified for the knockout phase of the competition. It is mandatory that the two players should play throughout the game till the end and cannot be substituted or replaced. Also, there are no positions assigned for the players and can move around in their court.
Points
The team that presides over two sets wins the match. In case of a tie, the match will be continued until a two point lead occurs in either team. The team has to switch ends after every 7 points in the set 1 an 2 and 5 points in the third set. The team scores points when the ball is successfully grounded in the opponent's court. Also, a team is allowed to touch the ball only three times once it's in their court.
