Match
Olympics Gold Medal for tennis is determined by the best of three sets except for men's singles tournaments, which the gold medal is determined by best of five. Mixed doubles match gold medals would be determined by a first-to-10 tie-break if they reach one set all. London Olympics 2012 has adapted knockout format in which the semi-finals winners of each event goes head-to-head on Centre Court and compete for the gold medals.
Scoring
One of the player hits a shot and if the opponent cannot return that shot or if the opponent's shot lands outside the court, the player who hit the shot wins a point. It should be noted that each contested point is worth 15 points so, one point ahead means 15 points more the the other player. If a player scores four points then that player wins the game. Winning a set is other part. A player needs to win six to seven games to win a set. If the match results in tie, then a tiebreaker will be played. A player should win two out of three sets or three out of five sets to win a match.
