Match
The game starts when a player in any one of the two participating teams begins a 'rally' by serving the ball. This is done from behind the back boundary line of, over the net, into the other team's court. If the ball lands in the receiving team's court, they lose a point. They should push it back, typically with hands. The ball can be touched three times (by three different members) before pushing it to opponent's court. The rally continues till either the ball grounds in any one court or makes a fault. Whichever team wins the rally is awarded a point and starts the next rally by serving the ball. Winner of the match is decided by best of five method.

Faults
As mentioned earlier, losing the rally will result in other team gaining point. Committing faults may result in losing the rally and the major faults are:
  • Causing the ball to land outside the opponents' court or serving the ball without first passing over the net is considered as fault.
  • Catching and throwing the ball is considered fault.
  • Double hit i.e., touching the ball twice, by the same player is considered fault.
  • Touching the ball four consecutive times, the same team is considered fault.
  • Touching the net during the match is considered fault.
